Can anyone tell me how easy or how much of a ball buster this is? I have been asked by my brother to replace the alternator in his girlfriends car as Toyota want 550-600 euro to replace it and he can buy a reconditioned one for 230 euro and get me to fit it. I haven't seen the car so I don't know what's involved. Thanks

Run forest run.... a horrible job. Those recon alternators aren't worth a toss either you'll be doing it all over again in a few months. At a minimum you'll need a lift and a set of decent sockets in good nick some of the bolt heads are very shallow, one slip and you're doomed. If you're knacky and very patient you might be able to squeeze it out of the engine bay without having to remove the driveshaft.

2010, 2 litre D4D enough said, there’s very little difference between the variations from a diy point of view. It’s a tough job especially if you’re trying to do it on your driveway. Ask any garage including Toyota themselves.
