Just about to pull the trigger on a bone graft and two implants.
Live in the south and NI dentist has quoted me recently.
Asked a few Dublin dentists but they only offered cadaver/bovine graft.

Any advice on alternative practices /prices? pm if my questions are indiscreet

Is there a reason why you have a strong preference for autogenous bone?? (Or against cadaver/ bovine..)

The reality is that you may not need grafting, implant technique differ between operators.... or maybe you only need a small amount of supplemental grafting on the side of an implant? If so, harvesting bone from a second surgical site may not be worth the extra pain and swelling.....

    Thanks for reply.
I had long term bone loss in an area, and the gum line is too oblique to adjoining teeth, so while an implant might be possible, the gum line would be 7/8 mm high on the implant.

I was told that reabsorbtion is higher on other fillers,

Go to a specialist periodontist, Oral Surgeon or ideally a prosthodontist who can plan the restoration and see exactly what is needed. Complex jobs like this have more than one way to achieve success. Dont get all hung up on the techniques, as one technique in one operators hands will work and the same may not be true of another surgeons and vice versa.

The resorption rate is not lower on autogeneous bone, if anything the volumetric change is greater, there is also significantly higher morbidity and wound breakdown risk. At the end of the day good surgeons will do good surgery with good materials, if you dont trust the surgeon to choose the right proceedure for you, then they are not a surgeon you can trust.

There are so many variables in all this.
