Illness benefit - Medical card & Holiday pay queries?

So I was diagnosed with crohns disease last Tuesday. For this reason I've been advised my doctor to take sick leave. I believe my job has payed a major part in me becoming ill. So I have decided that I will post my notice for work in a couple of weeks while I'd still be on sick leave. I am currently owed holidays and I am wondering if I have to come off illness benefit to receive this payment?

As MC1 claim for illness/injury benefit it states that I must declare that I am not receiving holiday pay. This is why I assumed that I must be taken off illness benefit prior to receiving my holiday pay.

I'm also wondering if I must apply for a medical card? My yearly earning would be approx 19,000 - 21,000 euro per year.

    Thanks in advance.

I think what they mean by not receiving holiday pay, they mean that you aren't using your holidays to cover unpaid sick leave.

If you hand in your notice to your job, they are required to pay you for any holiday days owed that you have yet to take.
