Getting Aga Oil Range Serviced

Hi Folks, I was on here a good while back enquiring about Aga Range's as we were viewing a house which had one installed. Well, we bought the house in the end and got keys a few weeks back and are onto the next stage of trying to figure out how to use the Range.

Our first issue however, is trying to find someone to service it which is proving very difficult. We're in Clare and no-one seems to service these things and any numbers we got are either too far away or don't answer their phones. Does anyone know of a person who knows these systems and services them that would be close to Clare region?

We can't seem to find where the main oil burner is for heating the house but there is one that I can see in the Aga Range on the left when I open of the little doors. Would this be the main oil burner which also services the Range by any chance or should there be a separate burner for heating the whole house?

Also, there is what looks like a Sorn controller beside the Range which has a knob for Heating and another one for Cooker. Again, no clue what this is and couldn't get any info online but I'm presuming it heats the rads as well as controls Range. I attached picture, apologies it's not a great one.

Any information on the above would be great lads. First priority is to get it serviced and then give it a whirl over the winter to see how it goes.

looking at the pic you posted it looks like a modern pressure jet system which would be common to most boilers, some of these ranges can be years old and converted to Don burner systems which frighten off most techs. Ring Murphys in Kinvara 091 637159 who are your nearest aga agents and ask them who they recommend near you

Thanks for the reply. Managed to get in contact with a lad from Sorn in Thurles who originally designed the system in the Aga. It's a pressure jet system as you mentioned.

Turns out the burner had to be replaced. There was a nice little puddle of oil underneath which wasn't a good sign. Ended up costing me €750 for a new burner and labour to fit along with getting plates freshened up too.

The lad that did it was very knowledgeable about it though and at least its good for the foreseeable future and I understand the system well enough to work it now.

I had assumed it was the original Aga that you turn on in winter and leave on all winter but he told me it's not which is great. The system heats all the rads in the house and hot water too so should be reasonably efficient if used properly.

Range has to be on to have the rads on but it can be idling and the kitchen/ dining room area is a big enough space and will be the main living area so should be nice and toasty in the Winter months.
