As a fellow aspiean I am perplexed you actually seek smalltalk within a thread and not want to keep it structured... Unless the smalltalk is its very reason for being of course or you want to define its state after a few replies are received.

In my experiences it is mostly NT's that engage in 'friendly banter' and smalltalk that fits a forum like After Hours so well where things tend to wonder off topic quite quickly (both in real life and most boards/social sites imo).
But then I suppose the nature of a boards/social sites is to fill the posts with text and I have simulated so many conversations on boards to blend in (NT style) with replies so this was my offering.

adhd, it helps keep energy levels under control and helps me concentrate on something...ultimately it's about making friends....and lots of aspies like to be around people....but at the end of it all everything does come down to structured even with small talk i suppose....

lets just put it this way i really like doing jobs for people or giving jobs on to the right people....it just the feedback that motivates me. anyway, i wont be around the forum long i don't think as i will find something else that takes away all my attention soon due to the adhd.....

    Conversation mode engaged:

Yes I can understand that for sure. Please don't take my response as a knock on you, I suppose with other aspices I reply 'unfiltered' and this works best as I don't mean malice and they don't take it as such... However it can be a nightmare having to filter myself for most NT's as the slight misstep can lose friends and they are hard to come by at the best of times.

I know of a few (well two) that are very un-aspie like people on the outside and unless they told you, you would never know to see. Kinda life of the party and brilliant with all the smalltalk people want to hear but yet as soon as the acting is over they need to recharge for a few days in between being 'that guy'

well that would be typical of a introvert in general anyway....and typical of me very much so....it's not acting though....it's feeling emotionally real....there version of real is just as valid as yours

Yep (for the record) Aspie here:

For me anyway apart from the one friend I have, its is mostly acting just to get past all the interactions people need.
I long to be left alone where I am me.

I apologize, I seem to have betrayed the forum After Hours by not keeping this funny. Hmm must be slipping.

    Insert aspie joke here:

How many Aspies does it take to change a light bulb?

Two, one to change the bulb and one to research the history of light bulbs, all the different makes, how they work...
