Temporary charger options?

Ok this might be very odd question. Leaf arriving at weekend, I was fully expecting to just install charge point. Contacted the electrician and he is away for at least 1 week, maybe 2....

I am looking for temporary home charger option as car does not have granny cable.

I have granny cable for eGolf but of course it won't fit the Leaf.

Idea's are welcome, do places rent out the cables?

I can't seem to find the convertor online to puchase either?

I temporarily mounted non tethered charger onto the wall in place of an existing double socket inside my garage.

Got me out of a hole for a few weeks.
I use my granny cable for nearly all of my charging so I can't loan it to you.

I saw of someone who bought a type 1 to type 2 convertor but I have never seen the other way round.

Long term? Surely you should have one. I mean what if your visiting our staying in a hotel.

Its like a spare Tyre not needed to you NEED it.

Car is going to be used as a run around for local travel. I would guess the most it will do in a day is circa 80km, most days will be circa 40km.

Any long distance driving etc will be done in Qashqai.

If I can pick up a granny cable cheap I will but I don't see a requirement once the charger is set up

Nice service. It's great to have a local Irish company around that has very good customer service. Fair play to Phil.

Just as an experiment, I put a 32 amp plug on a home CP, and a similar socket at two locations, the home CP can now be portable and avail of a 32 amp supply.
Essentially it can be a portable home charger or plug into a 32 amp socket, sadly not too many of them about yet, but who knows, maybe one day. Almost a Granny on steroids?

No problem, I would have gave you mine to use, but that's typical of Phil, we faff around and then he comes in wearing the superman costume and saves the day :)

No that's the exact opposite, that's the one I'd never seen (until now anyway:o)

I had seen one to convert tethered type2 to use on a type1 car.

I have one in my i3's frunk for the odd type 1 tethered I run into.

One point noting is that at the connection point these things are not weatherproof.

Correct me if wrong but that will convert the tethered charge for the Leaf so it will plug into my eGolf?

That's what it says on the tin anyway, it's a female type 1 to male type 2.

    Hi there
The granny charger has a Female type 2 on the end and the car has the type 2 male.

The public charging cable with the Leaf has a Male type 2 one end and the type 1 on the other.

Will the public charging cable from the leaf not attach to your type 2 granny charger?

And this the cable for charging the leaf on the public network.
One being male and one being female, we should just need some wine and music 😇

Yes but he's looking to charge a type 2 car using a type 1 tethered unit.

The leaf public cable (Type 1 car to type 2 charger) does not work for type 2 cars as if you connect the car to the type 2 end, then there's a type 1 connector to fit to a type 2 CP.
    Doesnt work.

The adapter mentioned above seems the only way, I've not used it but based on the photos and description it does the job.

I understood it was the other way around.

He has an egolf type 2 granny lead and wanted to charge a Leaf which is as you say a Type 1.

I do have eGolf with untethered charger.

But I have bought Leaf with tethered charger so I want a convertor so I can plug it into the eGolf....sorry about confusion

Did you not get a public charging cable with the Leaf?

Have you tried to couple this cable to your eGolf granny cable?

No reason there shouldn't be a converter. The signals on the pins are the same for type 1 and type 2 single phase AC
