Swapped Windows out with Ubuntu - Network Drivers are gone

    Hi Guys,

I swapped an old Dell Inspiron 1501 out with Ubuntu and all is working perfectly apart from the fact that the network adapters are gone.

Does anyone have any idea how I fix this? If somebody can point me in the right direction for the right drivers, I can put load them from a USB.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

What NIC is your PC using? Might have to check with Dell.

    It's a broadcom BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN

The ethernet port is actually working, I just checked there. Just need the wireless driver installed but I can't seem to find them.

Did you turn the network interface on? Some installers default it to off (wtf yes).

Run ifconfig -a to see all interfaces.

    If it's eth0:
    sudo ifconfig eth0 up

    Hi guys,

Got it working in the end.

I had to manually install the driver b43?

The Ubuntu forum gave me a run down.

    Really appreciate the help.

I tried that on an old Dell with the same card but could never get the WiFi working.
