Yikes, I would regularly be running three of the programs from that list when gaming.

That's mental. These are some of the most popular programs used on the pc, and this will affect thousands of people. And you can't dispute the ban? That'll change within the next day or so, or they'll lose a huge amount of their playerbase.

It's got to be a mistake though, and not something they intended.

Bungie have said, though not specified, that those apps are not the reason for the ban - the game simply should not work with those running.

Nothing that requires insertion into the game code or running code - like seemingly most overlays do, in order to read from the game or display things on screen, is allowed according to Bungie - as a way of Bungie trying to stop cheats from running aimbots etc.

Bungie was up front over a month or two ago that a lot of the common third party streaming/communication tools would not be allowed with D2 (such as Discord and OBS).

But, as I said, Bungies statement is that the bans are not for use of 3rd party apps.

That being said.... if it isn't for those apps, what the hell is it for cause LOADS of people are getting banned. Maybe they are all lying and have some other malicious program running along with D2, but the annecdotal evidence at the moment would suggest its these game capture and overlay things causing the problem.

Yet again though, we are seeing reason to be disappointed in Bungie.

There has been a storm over this since the second the game launched yesterday - and we have seen one, terrible, response from Cozmo.

No acknowledgement, no communication, no discussion - just one bland sentence saying bans were not for using 3rd party apps.

"Third-party applications that aren’t compatible with Destiny 2 may cause the game to not run but won't result in a ban."

Thats it - and that is not enough.

One of the other /r/DTG mods got hit by the Ban as soon as he booted it up and wasn't even running those softwares. No one is safe

To run concurrent with the 2 week Destiny imposed Trials suspension.

Prob had his reddit mod destiny perks app running. You know, that improved blink/sword stuff. Explains it.

Bungie seemingly admiring some of the bans were mistakes - beyond the 4 originally overturned. Was your mate unbanned or a filthy cheater?

probably the same gang a few weeks ago who were giving out on the destiny forums about banned in Trials. Quick lookup in destiny tracker shows them winning every trials match with DNF's and very few kills!

Reddit had it, that only 400 people were banned on PC. Laughed at one comment "yeah, and all 400 came here to bitch about it!"

Also comments that the bans are possibly based on investigations from the Beta access/play - that players were banned for actions/programs used during Beta, so although it appeared to be an instant ban on logging in to D2, its actually a ban from a week or two ago, or whenever the beta was.

A load of bans were lifted and overturned, including the guy I know.
No real "official" line from Bungie as to what went down though.
Must have been a mess up that they don't want to handle head on as it may lead to overall questioning of their Banning System and it's lack of appeal process
    This is the latest

There has been an update from Bungie, please read it at the bottom. Additional tweet here as well:
Upon further review of our PC security measures, some bans have been overturned.
We have seen lots of questions about bans being issued in the PC version of Destiny 2. To provide some information, we would like to share some facts.

    The following is true:
Destiny 2 cannot automatically ban you, only Bungie can ban a player after a manual investigation
Yesterday, we banned approximately 400 players on PC
Bans were applied to players who were using tools that pose a threat to the shared ecosystem of the game
We did not (and will not) issue any bans for the use of overlays or performance tools, including Discord, Xsplit, OBS, RTSS, etc.
Information on using third-party applications can be found here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/46101
We are overturning 4 of the bans that were issued during the PC Beta
We are committed to providing an experience that is fun and fair for the millions of players who have joined us in this community.

Update: As part of our ban review process, we have identified a group of players who were banned in error. Those players have been unbanned. The bans were not related to the third-party applications listed above. We will continue to review the process we use to ensure a fun and fair game.
