Is it possible to buy a complete new set of wheel lock nuts and key?

New to this forum, so hopefully this is in the right place.

Had a puncture this morning. Went to take off the wheel to discover that the wheel nut key is completely rounded/rusted. Therefore, I'm unable to take 3 of the 4 wheel nuts off (the key for the 'special' nut on each wheel is fine). I brought the car to the nearest tyre place and, worryingly, they couldn't get them off either.

So my car is currently sitting outside my house with a puncture, and I'm unable to take the wheel off. There doesn't seem to be an easy fix for this. My car is a 2000 Honda Accord Coupe.

If I contact Honda are they likely to have a replacement key?

Or is it possible to buy a completely new set of nuts and keys? I could then ask my mechanic to cut off the old nuts and use the new set.

Any ideas? I'm not in a rush to get the car back on the road, and I'm also wary that any quick fix done in order to get this particular wheel sorted, won't help when one of the other tyres punctures at a later date and I need to get that off too.

    Thanks lads.

That's a regular hex head right?

Any breakers will help. Motorfactors... Lidl or Aldi during offers.

Are you not able to just hammer on a slightly too small socket over the lock nut and remove that way? You'll be sacrificing the socket, but it sounds like it's worth it. It all depends on the lock nut in question however.

    Regular hex key, yep

Because of the particular alloy, there's no room to get a socket over the lock nut. Only way to get the nut off without cutting it is to get a correct size hex key into it. Rather than a quick fix just for this wheel issue, I need something better in place for any future issues.

A mech should be able to weld something onto the lug and then remove it that way.

Ring a few local places, they may have a special tool that can remove old rounded nuts.

Are the nuts or the nuts key rusted?

My understanding is it's the latter and just another tool is required.

Sounds like you are describing internal drive nuts, they're probably a bit more tricky to remove.

Thanks lads. It's the key itself which is rusted - luckily(!) it's not the specialised lock-nut key, just the regular hex key for taking off 3 of the 4 nuts. I tried an autoparts place and they said they don't do them, the best bet would be to get in touch with a Honda dealer. So I gave Bolands in Waterford a ring but they couldn't find anything for an Accord Coupe!

I'll be calling out to my mechanic tomorrow. He's also a dealer so he reckons he might have a key lying around that might work.

I don't wanna go down the road of welds, because it take 3 welds just to get one wheel off. Then I'd be in the same boat for each of the other wheels if and when they need to come off. If I could get a replacement key from my mechanic, problem solved. If not, I'm looking at welds unfortunately. In the meantime I might try and order something off ebay.

    Thanks again for your help.
