Should P45 match final payslip?

    Hi,

So we left it until the last minute and have to do taxes since we did a one-off AirBnB. We cannot find a P45 for a job from last year but do have a final payslip. Can anyone suggest if there is any reason the P45 would not be the same as the payslip for doing my taxes?

We will be getting in touch with old employer to send a copy down in post but may be scuppered by their speed.

Thank you for all helpful replies!

Login to your Revenue account and you'll be able to see your pay and tax details for 2016.

    Thank you.

I did so and it provides the same employer twice with about 150 euro difference in gross income. Tax and USC were the same on each. What on earth is going on!

One is the p45 probably and the other is probably your former employers end of year returns to Revenue, the P35. It's not a massive difference to be honest. Was there a later payment of holiday pay or something else. You could contact Revenue to confirm.

Many thanks. I have another nonsense thing I need to phone revenue about anyway. They have DSP Jobseekers Benefit of zero listed which cannot be removed and stops me from moving on to next page. Paye are sometime so useful and sometimes just terrible.
