Can anyone help diagnose what is wrong with my car.
when pulling pulling out of a space and have the wheel locked, the car makes a noise while moving. it is like a whining noise.
anyone have any ideas what this could be?

    thanks

Such an old car could easily be low on PS fluid, or it's old and crappy.

    You can try flushing it

i popped the bonnet and the power steering fluid had dipped just under the min level.
i topped it up this morning and will look into doing a flush over the weekend.
after i topped it up and locked the wheels hard in both directions, there was no noise when i started to move.
this could just be coincidence but seems like it is resolved!
    thank you

There must be a leak somewhere though as you do not loose fluid for no reason. Have a look around the steering rack to see if you've any leaks.

Are your forcefully holding the wheel at full lock?

This isn't great for the power steering system as it puts a lot of strain on it and whining is quite normal when forcing a full lock.

try and ease off the lock a bit and there should be no whining.
