HAP rent limits

    Hi im very confused by the rent limits,is the list for rent limits on the welfare site the rent that the house must be in total or the maximum the council will pay in HAP,in my area the girl at council reception told me the amount listed is what they pay .after my differential rent rate is calculated,or have i misunderstood.

    The limit in theory is the most the rent can be total, however some councils have some discretion in letting you top up the difference.

    But the limit is the most they'll pay to the landlord, and you'll pay them the differential as your contribution.

    E.G:

    Limit is 400
    Rent is 450
    You pay weekly rate to the council + 50 top up direct to landlord (if allowed)

    Sorry to but in, but does hap payments stay the same if you change from part time job to full time job?

    Your contribution is based on your income, so if you earn more, you pay more.
