Ideas of contacts for my Mini-Company idea

Since the Transition Year forum is quite inactive, I requested a transfer of the original iteration of this thread to this forum by a TY moderator. However, as I'm time-pressured to develop my business idea, I'll post it here anyway.

As part of TY Mini-Company, I am in progress of setting up a personal development business, as a unified, non-centred network of psychologists and people who specialise in soft skills such as critical thinking, public speaking and leadership, that anyone could contact in order to work with them and improve their strength of such skills. My intention with the business is to get as many people as possible on the personal development train.

However, I am currently at a progress barrier, since nobody I have talked to in my school so far is knowledgeable of such psychologists and skill educators. I have contacted the Student Enterprise Programme on their website, but they never replied to me for some reason.

Any idea of such people to contact would be greatly appreciated.

if you're looking at personal development then give Pat Divilly a look. Not exactly what you're after but in fairness to him he shot to fame over night and now has a hugely successful personal development brand/business.

Cool, I'll get in touch with him when I have the chance. Thanks a lot for your suggestion.

I forgot to ask this: what's Pat Divilly's email address, just so I can contact him?

Before you email him just have a think about how busy he is and how many emails he gets. Make sure that you have your email well thought out, that it is short and that you are not asking for too much.

Even if your ultimate aim was to eventually go to meet him, in the email I would say that you are looking for a 10 minute phone call to get some advice. Then if the phone call went well you could ask him did he want to go for a coffee some time. He would be a lot more likely to say yes after talking to you on the phone rather then if you asked him straight from the get go.

So in summary, keep it short, sweet and to the point. Don't go asking for too much from him initially and have respect for his time. Most successful people are pretty busy but usually can fit some time in for you if you come across as easy to deal with/nice/slightly naive!

I just sent him a short email, regarding advice and other people I could contact.

So 2 people already replied to me, one of which works in DCU.

Now I need to wait for some replies before I can take a step closer to setting up my business.

I remember talking to my religion teacher about people I could contact, but she did not know of any, despite teaching us briefly about personal development! Oh, the irony...

    Why am I not surprised?

So I got around to emailing Jigsaw and Samaritans to see if they know of any psychologists during Mini-Company class.

Does anyone know of any people who specialise in productivity?
