I have a 97 Starlet and there was a small hole in CV boot.I put a patch on it and gave it a good shot of Tech7.Three months down the road and a lot of miles its still fine.Nct is coming up shortly and I wonder would it pass. Its not leaking any grease.

It they see the patch it'll fail, did the same on a Subaru years ago.

Boot wasnt leaking, purchased a universal cv boot kit online, fitted it for the re-test and it passed.

I would have thought a patch would be fine if it wasn't leaking but nothing would surprise me. I'd definitely take my chances on it anyway.

If it looks like a proper repair it should pass - it's in god's hands now..

Wont pass if they see the patch, they class it as a temporary fix, not a permanent.
Very same situation happened to my Grandson on his starlet.

Got a heavily patched up backbox through many an NCT so you'd think if the repair is doing the job, they should pass it. Nothing would surprise me though.

Yep I had a car pass a few times with a shoddy enough ould patch put on with blind rivets but eventually they failed it. Though when I replaced it there were some more holes and the original one could have grown a bit.

I'm starting to think for a lot of these parts the testers have a timeframe in mind for how long they should last. I reckon if a 15 year old car rolled in with the original ones they'd be quick to condemn them on the smallest of imperfection.
