I have an interview for an Electrical Foreman with HSE. Not having done an interview for a long time I am unsure what sort of questions to ask once given the opportunity.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

As it's with the HSE, I'm not sure what information you'd need that's not already covered by the job spec. If nothing else, public jobs tend to be really clear on the spec.
But basically anything that you would need to know really - what are the normal hours of work, the normal place of work, typical duties in a day, how many people you report to, how many report to you, is there overtime, if yes, typically how much, is there parking, bike parking, are there showers, and so forth.

A lot of people forget to ask the simple questions about daily working life and then get a bit of a shock when they have to make huge changes. For example, if your current employer lets you start at 8am, but the new employer only allows a 9am start, that can involve a massive change in the person's home life. But it's a simple question they tend to overlook at the interview stage.

If you feel you *need* to ask questions, but can't think of anything to ask, then just say, "I had questions about x & y, but they've already been answered by the job spec/while we were talking".

If you’re given the chance to ask questions at the end try and ask something engaging of the interviewers but turn it into a chance to sell yourself one last time... and tell them that you really want the job.

I'd ask do they provide any opportunities for further training and education. What the career progression prospects are. Do they have a social club.

    Loads of stuff to ask.

That's what I was thinking eeguy but not having done an interview in such a long time I'm not sure what is the right thing to say.
