Junior Eurovision

Channel surfing. Passing by TG4. Saw what appeared to be auditions to select the Irish entry for Junior Eurovision.

Why is this competition under the "command" of TG4 ?

More importantly, why are all the entries for these auditions in Irish ?

Is any junior who might have the relevant talent barred if their composition / song is in English or, put another way, not in Irish ?

How did that happen ? Seems a bit slick....

I can't imagine any other channel would want it.

Yes, it should have been RTÉ and Louis Walsh who picked the entry, their success rate in recent years is something to behold.

If you look up Wikipedia both Italy and Holland (and others) seem include English as their languages.

This is the third consecutive Junior Eurovision in which TG4 are taking part - and they haven't done badly so far (12th in Sofia in 2015, 10th in Valletta last year).

They've certainly done a lot better here than RTE have done in the last four senior Eurovisions with English-language songs...
