I used watch it on Thursdays around 4:30-5:00pm on RTÉ One back in late '80s as I used rush back from school to catch BEYOND 2000 theme music playing during the closing credits rolling. Happy Days!!

I loved that show. So informative and interesting. They don't make them like that anymore.

I remember this. I would love to look up a few of the shows to see how accurate (or how wacky) some of the predictions were.

As an aside I remember seeing ray D'Arcy on the den talk about televisions which were only 2 inches thick, mad stuff at the time

Here is a crazy idea from 1993 where they proposed you would no longer have to get your photos developed, instead opting for a "photo cd" - it saves on having to set up the cumbersome projector to show your holiday snaps to friends and family

Simon Reeve speaks fluent French too! Well travelled I suspect from his time on the show

I used enjoy watching Tomorrow's World for many years as it was also broadcast on RTÉ television in the Republic of Ireland but I just felt it had begun to grow tired and stale in terms of presentation and style by the early '90's until it's demise in the noughties. Such a shame it was allowed to go downhill.

Other programmes on the BBC such as the weekly chart show, Top Of The Pops was also limping on for quite a while before it was eventually axed and one felt that if the right people were behind the scenes, they would have found a better way to keep it alive and relevant for a new generation. They should have put up a better fight against MTV Unplugged back in the '90s too as I reckon the rot had set in many years prior to it's axe. I also firmly believe that messing around with it's time slot AND/OR broadcast channel on a frequent basis was not clever. It should only have been moved if research was overwhelming about making such changes but it looked desperate and was too little too late in the end to keep this once iconic show alive in it's weekly slot.

I found this page while searching for connections if any between Beyond 2000 and BBC Click that I watch now on youtube.

Beyond 2000 was my favorite show in Australia back in the late 80s. I had moved from Silicon Valley in USA to Sydney and later Perth and was shocked at how limited the media was in Oz versus USA, but also how advanced that show (that I thought was locally produced) was (plus the great theme music!).

Later back in the US, I saw the other Beyond incarnations on cable/satellite TV.

A lifetime later (now in France), I stumbled across BBC Click on youtube and the show and the theme music reminded me so much of Beyond xxx that I googled to see if there was a connection.

NOW, who is old enough (and lived in USA at that time) to remember the Granddaddy of shows like this that riveted 11-year old me each week? ... The 21st Century with Walter Cronkite. (with more great theme music)

I think Walter Cronkite was one of the main tv news anchor presenters prior to the likes of CBS Dan Rather, NBC Tom Brokaw and ABC Peter Jennings in the United States. Cronkite was probably most famous for breaking the shock news to American tv viewers of US President John F. Kennedy's assassination in Dallas on November 22nd, 1963.

Well to jog your memory you had other shows focusing on technology advancements and the future down through the years such as

"3 2 1 Contact" from the Children's Television Workshop airing on PBS in the USA and you also had BBC tv's "Tomorrow's World from the 1960's thru to early 2000's

And then if you go back to the 1960's you had BBC tv's "Tomorrow's World" which went on for several decades and was eventually replaced by "Click Online" (later renamed as "Click")

BBC "Click Online" 1st series episode one circa April, 2000 presented by ex-Sky Newsreader Stephen Cole

Walter Cronkite's final signing off on the CBS Evening News which must have had a massive audience back in the day!

In fact, I now understand it is almost 45 minutes per episode excluding commercials and was produced in 2016.
