    Hi

As above, I bought a new outdoor LED light to replace my old LED light. The one I bought came with a plug on it.

Is it a case of snipping off the plug and connecting the wires on the light to the wires coming out of my wall, ( the light is controlled by a light switch inside)

There will be 3 wires in the plug, will there be 3 coming out of the wall where the old light was?

Do I need a plastic junction box or just connect the wires and insulate?

    Any help greatly appreciated,

Hi yes it will have a live, neutral and earth.

Cut and reconnect in a junction box with connectors.

Have you a pir sensor or just wish to switch on/off?

No there is no PIR sensor.

Its 20W so will just turn it on at night and off in the morning.

Up to you but that be ideal to fit a pir or a photo cell.... Like street lights where it will turn on just before gets dark and off again when gets bright.

20w cost nothing to run anyway.

Did the other fitting pack up??

Yes i think water got into the PIR sensor of the old one.

The whole thing is full of green gunk.

Was a bit worried about snipping off the plug as there is a fuse in it obvioisly.

And when i hardwire it in there will be no fuse?

If its hardwired its on a 10amp light circuit once 1.5square cable is connect correctly.

You can get an external separate pir sensor as the ones fitted are rubbish.

Steinel do a good one and few other makes also.

Pop up a pic I'll run you through if worried.
