Broadband with no telephone line in house

    Hi guys,

I am moving into a “granny flat” outside my friends house. Full electricity etc however no phone line,
It’s important that I have high speed broadband but is this possible with no phone line?

    When I say high speed I basically want to use it for the following;
    - laptop, smartphone, iPad
    - Andriod box for streaming
    - PS4 for online gameplay

I understand Vodafone do this, however I don’t want to sign into a 12 month contract. In my current house I pay a monthly fee to virgin with no contract, ideally I could get something similar with another provider that fit the above.

    All help/suggestions appreciated

    Thanks

If you buy your own router 3 have roll over contract 69 Euro for 250G the most expensive, they have other less expensive contracts that is one month period.
eir have PAYG 30 Euro for 50G lasts 180 days.
Don't buy routers from ISP they are locked to them.
I have Huawei B525 from amazon
People say if you have 20 Euro PAYG Three sim card it works in routers, with all you can eat data

What you want is a fixed supplier that does proper wireless broadband. Broadband from one of the mobile carries would be congested, expensive and terrible for gaming. This is who we are using, http://www.novabroadband.ie/
    Where are you living?

Do you think the 30 Euro one would be enough for andriod streaming, Netflix etc?

Thank you for your help :)

Get fixed line broadband into the main house (Virgin, Eir, Vodafone etc) and run outdoor rated Cat 6 cable from the router in the house to granny flat and buy a wireless access point for 30 odd quid from Amazon etc to connect it to in the granny flat so you have wifi and ethernet ports for wired devices like android box and ps4.

Might involve drilling through walls etc but it's better than faffing about with unreliable mobile 'broadband' from the likes of 3.

There are other fixed wireless providers in Dublin . I think Digiweb is one,

This is what I'd be doing. Wireless would be a last resort for someone living in Dublin.

Unfortunately it’s not an option to be drilling holes and running cables tbh!

Need a good wireless provider if possible

If you cant drill the only options are cellular, useless for gaming.

Some compromise will have to be made.

That’s okay I guess. Tbh, streaming sky live and Mobdro are more important to me
