Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan in a film about the IRA

I am beyond puzzled as to why nobody, in the media or otherwise in Ireland or the UK has not once mentioned this film called: "The Foreigner", which released in China on 30th September and US on 12th October.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33iuQu3UtjI

It's about a father (Jackie Chan) whose daughter is killed by the IRA in London and who then pursues the "leader" of the IRA (played by Pierce Brosnan).

It's almost as if it has been censored in the UK and Ireland. I feel like I have to look over my shoulders now that I have mentioned it...

    Astounded, are you?

Well maybe you shouldn't be living here.

Brosnan looks like a convincing portrayal of Gerry Adams.

Casting Jackie Chan as Martin McGuinness was a bold move.

Maybe it's just so crap no one bothered to talk about it?

Jackie and Pierce in a flic? Count me in. I give two fecks about the background/studio pitch, but I'll have a look at that.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I wondered that myself. It did pull a 7.4/10 on IMDB, which is nothing to be snuffed at. It's almost 2 hours too so it's not like a short film or anything...

I went to see it the other night, I wasn't expecting the movie I saw but it was really good.

I won't spoil it for anyone, but it was an unexpected departure from Chan and really stretches him in the acting stakes, and he doesn't disappoint. Brosnan is the most convincing he's ever been in anything I've seen him in, he seems to be getting better every time I see him, even in the maligned The Brother (I wish they'd gotten the costuming right though).

Not the usual lighthearted Chan stuff that I grew up absolutely loving but a compelling movie and we talked about it for hours afterwards.

I'm sure it'll be out on general release, it's getting great reviews.
