    Hi all,

A colleague is selling this car, leaving the country in the future and probably won't keep it here unless they get whatever price is set in their head:

I believe he bought it for €6k a couple of months ago, so would be looking for €5k or so ideally. That seems high to me! I've said I'd look around to see if his asking price was a bit mad; what do you think? My own selling strategy would be to price it 10% above the min amount I'm happy to take and to get through the process as quickly as possible (I place a high value on my own spare time) but he sees things differently to me; if anyone has any idea of what this is likely to realistically go for I'd appreciate hearing it, as I don't want him wasting his time if no-one is going to bite.

Wrong time of year to be selling a convertible, good time if your buying though but realistically not many people have a convertible at the top of their shopping list in October/November. I think he will take more than a 1k hit to shift it. Might be worth storing it somewhere for the winter if he can and try selling it in the spring when these cars start getting attractive again.

Being a hard top is a bonus. Manual 3.0 litre petrol E93 is fairly rare too but the high motor tax will need to be mitigated in the asking price. Photos are dreadful though, dark multistory car park and the car hasn't been tided or cleaned.

I'd probably see about doing a voluntary NCT on it now too or stick some tax on it to make it more attractive to a buyer.

It is a 3.0 on a CC rate. Nightmare really to sell...

Yeah, that'll be on the shelf a while at the moment.

    Really nice car though IMO.
Were the 3.0 not known for sh1tting themselves? Years back a lad I worked for was dead against taking one as a trade in for some reason unless he could offload to the trade. He no way was going to retail it.

That colour leather would be hard to move also?

Another 3.0 - M54B30 - did like to drink oil.

N53 is a direct injection engine (A.k.a. carbon buildup in the intake), but does not come with valvetronic. Coil packs were an issue, but at that stage they would have been changed.

This engine has small CO2 emissions, so would be perfect in a 2008 car.

its brown,..and in fairness the brown looks a lot classier than you think when you see it for real.

brown leather in a blue car is just baffling.

It's tan leather. Which is generally sought after in bmw's as long as the car can pull it off. In this case I'd say it can.

As said the photos need changing asap and make sure the car is spotless for the new pics. have the seller spend some time looking at high quality adds on dd and model his own after them.

Include service history and when it was last serviced? Also for a pic of the clocks have the car running and fully warmed up as it shows there are no warning lights and it gives the impression that the cooling system is working as it should

Perhaps have a native rewrite the add?

Nice but 1500 road tax! Plus insurance and general maintenance costs makes this worth less than he hopes!

It's far from worthless. Some people are happy to pay the tax if the car is right and so is the price.
