Jesus, Audi's styling is dire as of late. That hideous snout, horrible lines and pikey wheels fit for a Bora.

Great-looking interior but tbh I think the car is just plain downright butt-ugly from all angles.
The rear reminds me of something from the mid-70s.

Not sure about the exterior but it may look better in the flesh, I love the look of the current A7.

Not gone on that continuous light strip on the rear. It's on the new A8 also so looks to be a new Audi trend. Feels very 1990s to me. Overall it's a typical Audi evolutionary design so was never going to be any different.

jesus.....bonnet is muck, back is just tacky, side is nice, inside is beautiful, was waiting to see what these would look like as was considering getting one, il think il just the get old version now

I'd be much more interested in seeing how the new A6 will look.

I always found the A5 and A7 strange-looking beasts to be honest.
I'm betting the new A6 will be a similar evolutionary offering as was the recent
    5-Series.

In other words, you'd need to be a BMW/Audi enthusiast to tell the difference
    from 50 meters.

Agree. A beautiful A8 in France overtook me in my paltry A6 this year, fantastic car til it got in front of me to see the monocluster. Terrible looking. Looks great on the inside...

Why do they insist on the saggy arse look with the A7? The current car is downright hideous from the rear, its too low and the new one doesn't look to be much better. It may help its aero qualities but I wouldn't buy one for love nor money.

The A7 is largely based on the A6 anyway so there will be alot of hints from the A7's design and packaging on how the new A6 will look, though the A6 will probably be more reserved to differentiate it from the more expensive A7.

It reminded me of the volvo barge (S80?) I can't decide whether I like the back end of them or not.

It's an Audi, same sausage, different size. But that interior is sublime, looks like a concept car. You just know everything you touch will feel like a million dollars.

    Very porsche panemeraish rear end.

Laugh out loud lights on the new A7. Utterly ridiculous.

How dare you insult the most beautiful saloon ever by comparing it to a fugly A7.

Jeremy clarkson once came out with the classic analogy to describe a car with a similar rear end. He said it looked like a dog dragging its arse along the ground.

Looks like an old Cylon from Battlestar Gallactica, does it come with sound fx "by your command!"?

That was in relation to the Chrysler Crossfire. And he wasn't wrong either

I like the way it looks particularly the front and exterior. Not sure about the rear tail lights meeting but don’t dislike them either. I have always liked the first gen A7 I’d love to own one at some point but they are not cheap.

I must be the only who likes the rear lights on the A7 and A8. Very futuristic and Renault have similar on the Clio. I was tempted by the A7 when I was looking but at just over €80,000 I looked elsewhere.

Its all down to individual taste, love those lights and frontal design, not so sure about the back,
always looked like someone had stood on it.
Interior is sublime , new A6 will be interesting hope it has the same style of lights

That A7 has a prolapsed arse and that line running from the spoiler down the side looks terrible.
And some vag boys go on about Jap lines.:p
Front is acceptable while the grill is a very slight improvement on the last rotten one.
I like the rear lights though.

Most new Audi designs have been horrible. They hit peak design with the current A6 and now have gone down a weird new route with the new TT, A4 and now this.

This was their opportunity to change the rear end which IMO, doesn't work with the overall flow of the car. The creased bonnet is awful as is the grill shape and front headlight shape.

Very interested to see if Audi will forge ahead with the Prologue forming the basis of their upcoming A9.

I can just picture it, telling your mates...

"I just bought a new A7, beautiful rear, very futuristic, just like a Renault Clio.. 80k well spent!'

Like it or loathe it it's sharp and may still look sharp in 5 years.

The 7 series on the other hand looks dated already, the 5 the same, and I think their design problem is greater than Audis in that it has totally stagnated, until they do another Bangle the brand is going nowhere.

I think Audi have iterated extremely slowly, but what that does mean is that the massive numbers of older cars on the road don't look too outdated by the time the new model comes along. You then have a brand that everyone sees as solid and maintains an upmarket image.

BMW on the other hand took a huge leap with the E60, toned it down too much on the F10, and then finally have corrected it somewhat with the G30. Problem is though that the old models look outdated way too fast.

Very similar to Ford and the Focus Mk1, then Mk2 was a bit more generic and tried to appeal to Toyota drivers who though the Mk1 was a bit much. Then comes along Mk3, and the Mk2 looks very tired all very quickly.

Very difficult to establish a long term brand image with all the changes, but VAG and their photocopier design are a result of platform sharing between such a vest range of models.

The corollary of that is constantly changing the models hits residuals, which feeds into bargaining at new car time. It's a two-edged sword.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Oh yeah exactly, I think what VAG have done, backed up by very attractive PCP rates has done the brand a wold of good in terms of image, residuals and then retaining customers.

I'd still like to see a bit more flare from them, but there's no doubt they're building a very solid brand.

I love the new A7, futuristic interior design and all the technology that comes with it. Once you drive a car with the Matrix Laser lights you won't want to drive anything else. I'll be trading my current A7 in for one :-)
