Passed a few lately, convinced they were Maseratis, thought they had that trident badge on the grill.
Now I'm thinking I saw Teslas, I'm confused.

I'm trying to remember if they had radiator grill & I don't think so.
Last one I saw was yesteday driving into Tescos Naas.

    What am I seeing ???

You could maybe be confusing Tesla Model S for Maserati Ghiblis as they are both slightly gaudy saloons.

I suppose the biggest giveaway, is that one won't make any noise when it's pulling away. Or the Model S has a tiny front grille and the Ghibli has a huge one. Both models seem popular-ish around Dublin at the minute.

Did you google images of both cars to see what they actually look like?

I've been seeing quite a few 171 and 172 Teslas around recently, can't say I've seen any Maserati's that new around!

Well they were white & looked like this.
Now I know that's a Tesla cause I Googled it to get the image but tell me what's the make that comes into your head the first time you look at the image.

This is the Ghibli, perhaps you can see my confusion

    Think definitely Teslas too

A white one blasted past me on M7 near Naas

Probably the best motorway car out there for its power and running costs

Yes, one also passed me one evening on the M7, very handsome chap driving it too.
Maybe they are only for pretty people.

I've seen 3 or 4 Tesla's since August. They are starting to become more noticable now, as I don't recall seeing any beforehand.

To be honest, at a quick glance I'd think it's some sort of Ford/Jaguar saloon concept to look at it.

Most likely Teslas. Only 3 or 4 Teslas ever sold in Ireland up to July and now they are almost the best selling EV in the country, I kid you not. People here have finally copped onto them, although Ireland is many years behind most other EU countries (as usual). Just over 0.1% of cars in Ireland are EVs. One in every thousand.

Where did you get those figures? I live in South Dublin and I'd seen a lot more than three or four Teslas on the road over the years before they opened in Sandyford. I actually discussed it with several friends in the trade at the time about how I couldn't believe so many of these €100k electric saloons from a new brand had been imported and registered without any kind of dealer network.

    I prefer the Maserati.
Does that make me ugly? :)

Two of them (Model S and Model 3) parked up at M8 Ballacolla this evening.

Two Tesla staff (noticeable by their gaudy jackets) sat inside eating Supermacs while waiting for their cars to refill with electricity.

That Model 3 is one ugly car.

Model 3 is not yet released, more likelt model X.

You are right though the Model X is awful looking.

I actually think, looks wise Teslas are already dated, especially the interior. Fantastic tech and power though.

Worldwide EV's only account for 0.2 of all cars, so outside of some markets like Norway and Denmark Ireland isn't that far behind, so we don't need to wear the hair shirts of Irish shame just yet.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Fast forward five years, there will be posters here complaining about "paddy spec" Tesla's.

Saw a P100D at the applegreen at the swords junction this morning.
They dont look like a 150k car... very understated even bland (says he driving a 14 year old astra), but an interesting car tech wise.

Yours for 1400 per month PcP ;)
