You get a letter fine to the registered address for the car in a week, give or take.

Thanks biko. I've never done it before but emergency so wasn't sure of what could happen.

Why does that make a difference? Say 60km I don't know exactly. I'm just looking for the process of what happens?

Because if you were doing say 170kph in a 80kph zone then it probably means you would receive a court summons/arrest warranty which could lead to a driving ban, not just points and a fine. That's why I asked.

    What was the emergency?
Doing 100kph in an 80km zone on a 10 mile journey will get you there 1.5 minutes earlier than if you kept to the limit.

Well you don't think of these things at the time unfortunately.

Good to know that. I was coming into the local town about 3 weeks ago and probably doing around 63/65 km/h in a 60 zone when I spotted the van. Havent heard anything since so Im hoping that Im ok. A couple of mates did say that there is a wee bit of discretion so hopefully that has been used.

If you are close. like 63 in a 60 zone, then you may be ok as your speedo may just be a little fast and you are actually doing only 60 IRL.
Use a sat nav app on your phone to compare with your speedo. The satnav app is usually dead on.

OP have removed their question so I am closing this thread.
