    Hi,
Family of 4 here... would love a sun holiday this year... don't mind where. I would love somewhere like old style town but would prefer not to drive.. just don't know where to start, looked at owners direct but would prefer a personal recommendation. Pool essential. Kids will be 13 and 10. Looking at first two weeks in July.
    Please any suggestions appreciated.

    Lh

haven't been myself but siblings & friends who have rave about Albufeira in the Algarve for a family holiday. Very kid friendly in all restaurants & resorts, by the beach with pools in most complexes.

Have a look at Torremolinos. Short taxi drive from Malaga airport or get train. Melia Hotels have about 7 hotels there. Join Melia Rewards beforehand to get a discount. Weather in to November should still be in the 20's. Take day trip to Mijas Pueblo on local bus for old town vibe or Benalmadena Pueblo for similar.

Nerja which is also close to Malaga.

Cabanas in the Eastern Algarve might suit you (about 30 min taxi from Faro airport). It is less developed that the western Algave, it has a fabulous beach, there are lovely traditional Portuguese restaurants, bars and cafes, and you are less than 10 min taxi/bus into the traditional town of Tavira. Book flights with aerlingus/ryan air and accommodation through the likes of booking.com there is a good choice of hotels and apartments with pools

We were in Quarteria this year in the Algarve. A handy taxi ride from Faro Airport. Reasonable traditional restaurants which had excellent food. We rented an apartment through AirBnB.

    Would you consider a campsite?

I'd be heading to Italy and looking up "agriturismo".
Fabulous country with loads to see and do, good food and good transport links.

We are regular visitors to Soller in Mallorca. It’s a great place to base if you don’t have a car as it has excellent public transport links...however we usually visit outside the peak months of July & August and I would imagine these months are busy with day trippers!
