Car won't sell... other options?

    Hi all

I have an '05 5 series M-sport tourer... 2.5L PETROL. I know. I know. I've had great fun driving it the past 3 years, to and from work, ferrying the dogs, etc... weekends away - and deliberately opted for a petrol as the DPF would be dead with my short daily trips. It was the only one around at the time and I just fell for it.

Prob is, I can't get a buyer online. It's been up for months. DoneDeal, adverts and carzone.

What are my options? I desperately want to buy a small run around as the (now) wife has upgraded to a large car for us both to drive. So the BMW is not needed anymore, despite it driving very well. Insurance is up in a month and I'd prefer to buy a small engined car for the short spins.

Any sites or people I could approach?
Auction? Sell it for parts? Just give it away? ;P

Any ideas on how I could get a few bob for it?

How much do you have it up for.... love those M-Sport tourers... and not afraid of petrol.

Donedeal, if the price is right it will sell but it's not worth much unfortunately

Does it have a service history? I might be interested...

I would think that an M-Sport Tourer would be sought after. It is a rare car on our roads, I would have thought it would have been picked up relatively quickly, but that all depends on the price really.

A car like this won't sell fast, but it should sell.

Sorry, was driving home for lunch. Wasn't sure this was allowed.

Not much of a service history... I took a punt on her from a little independent dealer ASM (auto sales macroom) in cork a little over 3 years ago. Breezed through the 3 NCT's since. Very little mileage daily.

The parking sensor unit in the boot was disconnected when I bought her so they don't work (never bothered investigating) and other than that, she's as advertised.

    Full of dog hair, mind!

I tried to price her comparable to other petrol 05s, so feel that's a fair starting point. Obviously open to offers. Just no real bites, just a bit of tyre kicking and emails.

Try donedeal not carzone. car looks nice but the price is unfortunately far too high considering the market, it should be worth more but sadly is not imo

She's on done deal, or was until it expired! What price you think is fair... I was going off similar cars which are 1500-2000 more expensive in some cases.

Asking price is not getting price though! It all depends what you are willing to accept....2.5k and it would probably shift reasonably fast, not to say it will never shift at the current price but you will be waiting....

1000 euro a year to tax. 2.5 petrol estate. It is worth 2.4 to 2.8k max

Fair enough. I guess I was hoping to get a few enquires at 3499 and then let a potential buyer have their haggling space somewhere between 2700 and 3000.

Better just put up a no nonsense ad instead. Sad to be selling her but she's gotta move on... as she's no longer the biggest car in the drive.

its a nice car but being a 2.5l car and it being old. (not old in my mind but that of the insurers) makes it an unwanted car.
id say 2 grand to get it out of your driveway
And by the way anything will sell on donedeal if the price is right. i had a left hand drive 3.6l v6 that would not sell till i put the price to a grand

I sold a 2005 m sport 523i this year. Full service history and had just had 2k spent on it between cooling system and tyres. 150k kms. Got 2300 for it after a few weeks on done deal. Had every sort of ar$e hole ring and text me but sold eventually. Like yourself, I started off around the 3k market but got no interest at that price
