24mbps is only the maximum speed available adsl2 at the exchange. Depending on line distance from the exchange, line quality etc you could be getting as low a speed as 0.5mbps.

Firstly if you have very close neighbours with DSL drop over for tea and ask them what speeds they are receiving. Good or bad it isn't guaranteed you'll get the same but gives you an idea.

Go to fibrerollout.ie and enter your eircode to see are you one of the houses to get FTTH.

Digiweb business line checker (Google it) will tell you the max speeds your line can support. Excluding contention of course.

    Cheers for the reply

No one around me has any internet I'm in a rural part and not many people are into it! Should I give them two a ring tomorrow about speeds? Also never got in a house phone in the house before!

I'm on Vodafone broadband 5.5 Km from the exchange max speed is 3 mb but in reality just about 2mb you do get a modem not a fob. It will depend on how far away and wiring in your area as to what speed you'll get if broadband is available.

Exact same situation as me though ironically I got 2.9mbps yesterday during the ex hurricane. I guess everyone was disconnected contention went down.

Apart from the power blinking off twice for 3 seconds both are fine. Still getting 2.7mbps as of now so I guess a few lines were knocked off

    Cheers

Should I give them a ring? Would they be able to tell me the speeds if I give them my eircode?

    Cheers.
