Sledding in Tyrol

    Hi snowbunnies,

We have a family holiday coming up over the New Year, a little city break in Innsbruck and then on to the snow somewhere else in Tyrol - but where??

We are not in the least bit interested in skiing or snowboarding, we are all about the sledding - the down-the-slope "weeeeee!" type, not the dog-sled type :)

Does anyone on here know anything about that? We are talking about a much more downmarket type of hol than your usual ski-pass, ski-gear and robust insurance deal. The small and lowly sled rental being pretty much the only relevant expense (apart from the accomodation side of things, of course, which is less of a worry). We have the helmets.

Where in Tyrol has the guaranteed snow for that time of year, and also some good, well organised sled runs, of course? Would anyone know?

The Innsbruck part is all booked, I am now at a loss on where to start for the other few days...

    Many thanks, skiboardsies! :)

Stayed in Ehrwald around that time of year twice. Got really good snow both times but maybe that's just luck. We were skiing during the day but went night sledding in a few places.

We also took the cable car up to the top of the Zugspitz and were skiing there too. Great local transport and well set up.

Great, thanks for that! We actually did the top of the Zugspitze a couple of years ago, only from the German side (Garmisch)... and yes, it certainly is well organised up there!
