Alternator is on the way out despite what the garage tells you. It's a horrible job to do on the Mondeo, Henry strikes again... slick production practices outweigh the burden placed on the repair man every time!!

To be fair it's not just Ford who don't consider repair work when building their cars.

Is it always on or is it intermittent? I had a problem in the past caused by corrosion on the battery terminal connectors.

You are 100% right, the pully was fecked, battery was dead within a hour of them looking at it.

You need a new mechanic then.

    13 year old battery?

Have you considered battery's have a performance lifetime.

Got a new one also :D 2nd mechanic showed me the issue, he reckons the pully was working at the 1st garage and went as I drove home.

We've older batteries than that on the go still, like all things correct usage and maintenance is the key.
