Right in the expected path of Ophelia,
GSD will be mental with all the breeze and noise.

Any ideas on how to keep him calm that don't include the use of electricity?

Surely once he's inside he'll be grand?

Keep him indoors is all you can do really.

Sadly not, he panics and gets very scared at wind/rain noises.

Maybe stuff a kong with food and freeze it. Give it to him when he's getting stressed. Should take him awhile to get through it. Also, keep radio/tv on.
I certainly won't be letting my two out tomorrow. Will do piddle runs on the lead.

I've got kongs stuffed and in the freezer, have other treat toys ready to go, crates are set up just in case. Leads will be at the door for toilet runs and one of our dogs has had his calming tablet and I can increase the dose, if needed, tomorrow. Received a text earlier to say I won't have work tomorrow which I'm extremely glad about as I would have spent the day worrying if not.

You could try a DIY thundershirt:

I've wrapped my nervous terrier in a blanket before, and it definitely helped. Both my dogs don't like high winds, tomorrow will be interesting.

Yes, more going out and sniffing the air in the garden, more clingy and standing around listening to "nothing", they def know something is up.

My GSD was doing the same today.

I'm convinced GSD's know weather faster than the weather people.Incredible dogs.

Most of the winds have hit Scotland overnight, we sent our dog out to do her business at 7am, we were wondering if she'd refuse.
She stood, nose in the wind looking all windswept and interesting and majestic as fúck for about 5 minutes. The eejit.

My fella does the same any time there's high winds, he's shaved short at the moment, when hair is longer he'd beat any loreal model at the swish and flick in the wind
