Structural design and Cert of compliance

    Hi,

Be extremely grateful for any advice on the following in terms of fees for a structural engineer to:

    (a) construct structural design for strengthening an attic with site inspections and issuing of cert of compliance upon completion of works.

    (b) inspection of existing attic only to award a certificate of compliance/opinion of compliance.

I am in the Dublin area.

In terms of more info - I'm deliberating over whether to get a structural engineer to

    (a) do some drawings for strengthening the attic for additional storage or to use it as a home office. I may want to put a bathroom in the attic in future to save me going up and down a stira for example. Its not a habitable space and there will never be access via a stairs.

    vs

    (b) just an inspection and (hopefully) awarding of a certificate of compliance for the existing works. There have been a few changes to attic since the roof was originally made (flooring, change from diagonal strut supporting purlin to a number of vertical ones etc) so I want to ensure there are no issues if house is sold in future. All of the changes can be inspected - attic has not been finished.
