USPS shipping, should I give up?

I ordered something of amazon.co.uk without realising that it was being shipped from the states. The tracking was last updated on the 27th of Sept as having left the airport in LA. There is no sign of it on an post tracking. My estimated delivery on amazon was the 6th of Oct so I can apply for a refund now although the seller has asked me to wait a while longer. I have never bought anything from the US before so have no idea how long it is supposed to take, is this normal? Would you wait a while longer or look for a refund now? Is it worth getting in touch with an post or will they not know anything about it as it hasn't shown up on their tracking at all?

I'd wait. On another thread someone was told that cages of inbound parcels were sent to the wrong An Post depot, and had to be sorted for re-delivery, and possibly customs.

Thanks, I think I am just feeling impatient because I really needed it last week and wouldn't have ordered it in the first place from there if i would have known they were based in the states. Hopefully an post get their act together soon.

My only experience of USPS was when my wife sent a parcel over to me while I was working in the states for a few weeks. They were a disaster!! They made no attempt at delivery, just kept it at a depot! I'd never have know it arrived only for the tracking number. When I went to the local office they weren't able to tell me where to go to collect it and even the depot that did have it told me they didn't and that I was in the wrong place!! Doesn't help you much but just to know USPS are awful in my experience!

Well the USPS tracking finally updated. My package went from LA to Sydney. So an post aren't to blame. Who knows if it will ever make it's way back around the globe though.
