I would like some advice, on the difficulty of building a stereo amp with no experience?

My lovely Primare AV amp died, I am wondering could I use parts from it to build a stereo amp. Would it be relatively easy to come out with something that would sound good or would it be very difficult and basically a waste of time..

    Hi,

If no-one here can give you real-world experience advice about the do-ability of this, you could try asking on diyaudio.com, it has a sub-forum on amp building, its a very broad forum with lots of expertise in various branches of the hobby.

I doubt that this is a straight forward exercise, have you considered getting it repaired by a reputable outfit familiar with Primare ??

I spoke to someone I work with about who is quite familiar with electonic design and has some experience with making hifi. He said its a bad idea, that you need to follow a very specific design and substituting out parts will lead to it sounding awful.

I contacted a few people about repairing it, I get the impression that parts are not available but its always possible its just something very simple like a fuse is blown..
