    Hi All,

Looking for a bit of advice. In the process of building a 300m2 house. Construction is cavity blockwork with 150mm Xtratherm
insulation and plastered inside and out. Aiming overall for 1-2 ac/h.

I am considering using an air to water system and am currently investigating suppliers etc. I'll have a MHRV system too which im also researching.

When it comes to heating the house however, I'm not 100% sold on underfloor. It's nice in theory but we want to have wooden floors throughout and would like to hear experiences from people who've done this? Unlikely we will put underfloor upstairs but may tap the walls with some pipes for rads *in case* we need to get a blast of heat upstairs at some point.

House is south facing aspect with a large portion of this being glass, will have solid wood insert stove for winter/amienty value. My concern with underfloor is the floor itself will feel warm or might not at all work with the flooring choices and if I go down the rads all over option then it may take from the design of the house and I might need to spec these things to be massive.

    Opinions welcome!!!

    Simple answer is YES.

    A2W works best with UFH.
You dont lose any wall space with Rads
you have an even heat through out the room
Floor is warm to walk on bare feet

We just renovated a house we purchased and lifted tiles in a number of rooms and replaced with laminate (against some peoples advice) and the underfloor heating works a treat. Still getting used to zoned heating and the timers in each room but it is nice to have even heat throughout the room and toasty underfoot in the morning!

    Thanks for heads up.

    - Not particularly gone on the warm feeling but could tolerate if it was reserved to certain months of the year only
    - Thanks for advice on laminate. Possibly be going for an engineered hardwood so wondering if that'll do the job too

Neighbors have a massive 6 bed house all underfloor heating and nearly all hardwood floors, works a treat.
