I was in the market for a new laptop but i was at school the today and there was a teacher and she was able to open word documents on the screen and write over them using a stylus? and able to save them and up load them. This looked deadly. It was a surface pro she was using. I wanted to know if there are any cheaper alternatives out there that will be able to do the same thing. I have an original suface from years ago but dont think i can do that on it? any help or info anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated

The original Surface Pro probably is able to do what you describe to some degree at least. I would say you would need the latest office package however. But I'm not 100% sure on that. It might be worth a shot though!

As for other devices, I don't think there are any outside the existing Surface Pro range that will do this well. If you could find the last generation Surface Pro 4 for a good price it might be an option. It all depends on how much you want to spend, and whether writing on the screen is worth the extra cost.

The Lenovo miix does this as well as the surface and is a great deal cheaper.
