Hi. Might sound like a stupid question, but if a pub is for sale, is the drinks license included in the sale or is it an extra cost? Also, is it worth buying a pub nowadays? I have a few bob that would go a long way to buying a pub but was wondering what peoples thoughts are if its worth it or not. Thanks

Normally the license is included in the price, the auctioneer / solicitor can clarify this for you. As regards whether its worth buying a pub it really depends on the pub, no 2 are the same. A rural pub with few customers living within 10 miles is a very different proposition to something in Temple Bar or Doolin.

    Hi Blue Bull,

I think that without years of experience in this trade then your money won't go a long way, same can be said for the pub.

There have been a few posts in this forum about the pub trade in recent years , a quick search will show up some of the responses from those who know it.
