Note: this article is behind a paywall. If you've gone over your number of free subscriptions for the month- you may not be able to read this.

The gist of it is- Dublin City Council have announced an investigation after 2 hotels have been found to be renting apartments in apartment complexes and letting them on short-term lets to tourists- including bringing in their own cleaning and catering staff to service the apartments. Apparently its been ongoing for 2-3 years, and the residents in the development are livid to have strangers randomly wandering the place.

DCC are investigating over 40 complaints- thus far- how many of them feature the two hotels, is not clear- however, the 40 complaints are predominantly about short term lets in communal developments, and in all cases- the management companies have not taken any action- on the grounds there is no legislative basis for them to do so.
