Rsa 6 month rule

    Hi I'm 16 and I have a motorbike for the last 2 months I will be turning 17 in about 5 months time and hoping to sell the bike and get a car do I have to do the 6 month rule (for the car) since I will have already been on the road for 6 months on the motorbike. any help appreciated

    If you've a full motorcycle licence then yes you can skip the 6 month wait. However if it's an LP then you have to wait the 6 months I'm afraid.

    Is this accurate? I was under the assumption that even if you have a full licence in a different category you still must wait the 6 months if adding a new category to your licence.

    Sh*te I stand corrected. I was confusing it with the N-Plate fiasco after passing the test i.e.. If you're held a full A licence and passed the car test then you don't need to display the N-Plates.

    In reference to the OP's question then it's yes to the 6 month wait I'm afraid.
