I thought the telephone allowance was scrapped back in 2014.
It say in the budget teletext news did not watch it on tv.
'There will be a €2.50 increase in the Telephone Support allowance for those receiving the Living Alone and Fuel Allowance.'
    Is this true or incorrect.

I haven't seen the full details yet but it looks like it is going to be a 2.50 weekly payment for elderly/disabled who are living alone.

You only get €2.50 extra if you live alone?

You are right it was scrapped.
The announcement today is phase 1 of a restoration.
It doesn't come in until next October.
Expect more of the same in next years budget.

So do you have to apply for phone allowance so confused?

I’m on disability getting fuel allowance while my carer is on carers getting household benefit I thought maybe the telephone allowance wouldn’t be attached to household benefit

Do you not have to be receiving both the Living Alone Allowance and the Fuel Allowance? Or is it either/or?

On http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Budget-2018.aspx it is described as 'A New Telephone Support Allowance for 124,000 people living alone'.

Further down the page it states 'A new weekly Telephone Support Allowance of €2.50 will be paid from June 2018, to people who are receiving the Living Alone Allowance, subject to the same eligibility conditions as the Fuel Allowance payment.'
