cheers Oat, been thinking about making the move for a while and was close to paying a few hundred more a while back.
The switch is on now :)

    Enjoy :)

Few things on sale this morning. This HP OMEN is also a very good deal.

I managed to grab one of these laptops for €570 which I am delighted about. Currys IE has it listed for €1,250! Apparently it's a genuine clearance item according to someone on HUKD who called Currys.

    Damn it, out of stock!

Keep your eye on the listing if you want one. The laptop I bought came back into stock 3 times after saying OOS. Might happen with this.

I hope not. I paid via Paypal and used Parcel Wizard.

I'm hoping if they do have a problem posting it to PW they will contact me and not just cancel the order. I'll ask to have it delivered to their Enniskillen store and drive the 40 minutes to pick it up.

Ha, I'll keep an eye on it so. I wasn't technically in the market for one. I've a 27" i7 16GB at work but thought this one would be good at home.

At £1,100 is of course a complete rip off. £500 a decent price for a pre-built. It should handle 1080p high on the new games coming out.

However if you are comfortable building your own PC I recommend doing that so you have control over everything going into it. The PSU for example..what brand have they used? It looks like it will barely run the machine as is so OC'ing probably isn't an option.

You didnt grab an iMac?

Can you link your laptop, it just shows a bunch of laptops through your link

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

wouldnt mind but the latest model which is 1249 is damn near the same thing which won't come a surprise to most.
One of the bargains of the year there along with the laptop....I mean 1tb hd and 128ssd along with an i7 took some beating to be fair for 500 pounds.

none showing up there now as all sold out so link has expired

Out of stock now, yes. Don't think I can mark as expired so apologies to anyone just seeing it now only to be disappointed :o

No interest in Mac OS to be honest so I passed even though it was a great bargain. I only needed a laptop.

Here's the laptop I got for €570. Just hoping it ships now. Some people on HUKD who ordered 20-40 minutes after me have already got shipping confirmations. I was told it was OOS and mine would be shipped when they get more stock. I'll be raging if I don't get one considering how early on I ordered.

Also had a promotion that included DiRT 4 and 6 more games free when you bought the laptop.

Currys have had some great deals today. They are selling this 55" 4K Hisense for £349 on eBay.

Have to wait until black Friday week I'd say.

I picked up a TV myself. The two things I wanted on BF this year were a laptop and a new 4k TV for the living room. Unexpectedly got both today!

(Got shipping confirmation on the laptop :))

Ah you'll be grand. You'll need to give it some time to get used to all the differences. But it's a nice OS.

Im still not used to it after almost 2 years. If I have to change something in the settings it is frustrating sometimes, it seems a little user unfriendly in places.

Apple products as a whole though are great. My Macbook has replaced all tablets,so quick to hop onto it to check stuff, never slows down.

Ideally a fusion drive but as a starting point I'm sure this will do fine.
The slow start up times I've read in some reviews something I was wary about.

think the parcelmotel thing was the issue, there is a hold on my funds still!

If anyone has actually ordered this, just to let you guys know that for warranty purposes, Currys IE(anywhere in RoI) would be able to send it for repair for you, but they would not be able to deal with exchanges due to currency and tax rate differences. Similarly, if anyone had gone for the Apple specifically, Mactivate in Blanchardstown area are great regarding warranty with Apple products. I'm pretty sure they will entertain your purchase from the UK as well. If not, go through Currys IE and they will use Mactivate or their own repair centre in the UK depending on if the Currys branch that you went into uses Mactivate or not(generally if they're close to Blanchardstown, they use Mactivate, so anywhere in Dublin).

Sorry to hear you have ran into difficulties :(

I used Parcel Wizard and it was delivered there today. Delivering to me tomorrow.

I had an issue a while back where an order was canceled from some site (can't remember which) because I used PM, but I was sure it was because it said Parcel Motel in the title. After that I removed the PM/PW name from the address and never had an issue.

If you're using PM I'd make sure to bump up your PM insurance till it arrives

    The words.

    I use the address:

    [My Name]
    PMXXXX 1A McKinney Road
    Newtownabbey
    Antrim
    BT36 4PE

Same for DPD. I don't mention DPD Parcel Wizard in the address on any site I buy from.
