Vw Golf timing belt change

    Hi everyone,
    I currently own a 2010 MK6 Golf 1.6 TDI with 137,000km on the clock (87,000miles).According to the owners manual and the HAYNES workshop manual the timing belt interval is 200,000km although ive always been led to believe its around 120,000km for most cars.
    Any one have any advice on wether i should look into getting it replaced? No obvious damage to the belt and the car was recently serviced at my VW garage with everything coming back perfect and no mention of the belt needing done (That is of course if the VW mechanic bothered to check it)

    Any advice would be appreciated just for my own peace of mind as my car is my pride and joy and i try look after it the best i can,

    Is that it's original belt? If so I'd think seriously about getting it done as the belt has a time interval as well as a mileage interval ~ which I think is 5 or 6 years on that engine. If you're doing low mileage then the time interval should be observed over than the mileage interval. If the belt is 7 years old then I'd be getting it changed.

    VW recommend the timing belt to be changed either at 120,000kms or 5 years whichever comes sooner.

    That particular engine is 210k kms or 5 years. If it's never had one then that car is definitely due.

    Im assuming its the original belt, bought the car second hand, but the car has a full VW service history with no mention of the belt being done in the service manual and no signs on the engine( tipex markings etc on the cover)
    I could tip into the dealer where i got the car and ask them to have a look at it

    What kind of cost could I expect for a timing belt change?

    I got a quote for €449 from a VW dealer for a timing belt and water pump change.

    Car is currently at 135K and 6 years old.

    That's the menu price at any VW main dealer. I'd say an independent would do it for €350-400.
