Test failed due to the burnt bulb

    Hi,
    I just realized that I must renew my driver's permit by the end of the year and as always you can do it on the condition that you approached the test within the last two years. My last test within this period had been in March and I failed due to the light not working (stop light).
    I am not certain if this qualifies me as someone who can renew hence i approached the test? I had the paper provided where the Person conducting an exam wrote - fail due to broken bulb or something... Do you know whether I should apply or that document will allow me to renew the permit?
    Thank you in advance.

    Did you receive a certificate from the examiner declaring you did not pass? That's all you have to present to NDLS.

    I'd be curious though, you have fixed it since then, if confident to do it in March, you've applied since? An application for a test should be sufficeint too.

    Just out of interest, did the tester give you any opportunity to replace the bulb? Some people carry spares, and that would happen in real life, so if give the opportunity I think it would be nice.

    I had some document with NDLS logo where it was written that the car was not roadworthy (the broken bulb). I had no spare bulbs but probably I will take it now and will ask if I could replace it. I have been so lazy for this whole time I had not approach it again since then... I just realized my learner permit expires soon and I do not want to start it again. I will probably call the NDLS to be certain I can renew it now.
    Thanks!

    Did I read this right... 7 months later and the light bulb hasn't been replaced? 1 went in my car yesterday and I changed today.

    Also;

    You're better off double checking all these things are working before you get there. If you aren't checking it and resolving it before a test, would you check it in general? From what I've taken reading above you don't, what else are you not checking on the car?

    If you had a bulb not working, then I presume the test was cancelled rather than you being deemed unsuccessful??

    My understanding is, it's a failure. Part of the test is about vehicle checks. It's not just checking you know how to turn the lights on, it's checking they work too and if they don't, it shows you haven't checked them.

    If the cert they gave you states 'non conducted test'. NDLS will not accept it and will ask for new test booking. If it's a failure cert (old name for it) or a certificate of attempt, they are valid for two years after the date on it and will allow you to renew the permit for two years (without need for test booking)
