Bose Solo 15 problem

So I purchased a Bose Solo 15 Series II yesterday in PC World. It was an ex demo model but comes with a year warranty so no pitfall there.

    https://www.bose.ie/en_ie/support/products/soundbar_and_1_speaker_home_theater_support/bose-solo-15-tv-sound-system.html

However, it came with no remote control :(

Now I have searched the interwebs and found a few supposed "replaces this with this" sort of offers, but I would really like the original remote. I called Bose on the free phone number and got through to their UK call centre. The girl said they had them in stock despite being out of stock on their website. So gave all my details and she told me they were £21.90. Great I thought..

Then came to pay and she announces "that will be €35.60 please":mad:

Eh no thanks I said, that is extortion! So we ended the call. Now I don't mind paying a few extra quid for an original but an extra tenner for the privilege of living in Ireland?? I think not.

    Anybody help here please?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I'm not really sure what advice you're looking for - this isn't really a technical problem, more in the line of consumer issue - if you want this query moved to Consumer issues let me know and I'll oblige.

Did you ask Bose UK the reason for the price differential or ask them to charge your card in Sterling ? You could also try the Bose shop in Dundrum Shopping Centre (there may be others) and ask them if they could supply it.

I would be inclined go back to the PC World and ask for the remote ? if it was supposed to be included they should supply it or at least offer you a partial refund, unless they sold it to you with the explicit understanding that the remote was missing/not included.

Apologies. Yes you can move the thread if you wish.

I was sold it as missing the remote but assumed (stupidly enough it would seem now) I could get one online somewhere without paying a fortune.

I guess I was hoping for somebody to say they had one lying around, or had a need for a remote of similar nature and found a cheap but effective solution.
I did ask why the massive price disparage and was told that was just their policy (ripping consumers off ) and I did also ask to pay in sterling and was told I could only pay in € as I lived in Ireland. I said I can have it sent to a Parcel Motel address in the North and she said they wouldn't send remotes to hotels. She has clearly been living under a rock if she has never heard of PM..

Aside from all that I will try Bose in Dundrum tomorrow. Thanks for your advice. :D

    Hi,

Its probably better left here, given that it was sold with no remote there's no real consumer issue to be solved.

Bearing in mind the real-world retail currency conversion, probably a higher rate of VAT and the cost of postage from the UK, I wouldn't have thought the price differential was a pointless rip-off, large companies have bigger fish to fry than trying to get an extra fiver from the occasional replacement remote. Hope the Bose shop here can help you get sorted out.

If someone has a replacement remote please contact the OP by PM, no trading/swapping on thread please.

Looks like I am going to get sorted out with a remote. Called Bose Dundrum this morning and spoke to a very pleasant chap (Vincent I believe..), who is going to try and organise ordering one in for me himself.

Thanks (The Ritz) for your help. ;)
