Sky Q Mini Box and Wifi problems

In our house we have a complicated Sky Q set-up, basically there is a broadband box downstairs and near to it there is the main Sky Q box, everything downstairs works absolutely perfectly, no complaints there, can't complain at all.

There's also a booster box on the stairway and then a Sky Q mini box in the top bedroom which works flawlessly and can watch TV in HD without a problem and no complaints there. If I'm on the stairway or close to it I connect to the booster box Wifi and again, that's fine.

However the mini box upstairs acts as a Wifi booster and access point as well (can't disable it) so any laptops etc upstairs connect to the upstairs Sky Q mini box. Problem is that the mini box is bloody awful at being a Wifi Access point, you'll type a web page address in and there's no response. DNS errors and all such, have to try reloading a few times to get some pages to load, there's terrible lag loading pages and approx 10-15% you get timeouts loading pages.

It's the same if the Mini box is in standby or not, if I unplug the mini box the laptop connects to the stairway booster and although the connection is one bar, it's much faster and reliable without lag than the full connection bars when tagging onto the mini box which leads to a ridiculous situation that I have to turn the mini box off to allow an acceptable internet connection upstairs.

Does anyone know if there is a way to either stop the mini box from broadcasting or I can force laptops to ignore the mini box and logon to an access point with the same name that is further away?
