Just doing a few bits here. Tractor was idling while i was off it. Engine started to race a little and then cut out. Wont start now.
Presumed she was out of diesel but didn't seem to be. Just in case i throw in 2 gallon.
Tried again. Will give the sound of starting but wont engage. And then starts to purr.
Was it out if diesel or is it something else.

And then starts to purr?.... So it's running again?
Did you bleed it? If it ran out of Diesel you wouldn't be able to start it again without bleeding.

You probably have dirty filters which need replacing. And or dirty gauze in tank/lift pump.

Sorry doesnt start. After a second of trying to start it makes that sound like a dead battery/faulty starter.
Probably not explaining it properly. Call mechanic in the morning.
When you say lift pump do you mean as in to lift the arms. The lift has been show to react lately.

No fuel lift pump... It is the little pump on engine with the hand primer on it.

Did you charge it? Possible you've just run the battery low trying to start it.

Try charging it up tomorrow to see what happened. Thanks

If it's air locked from running out of fuel, it will still need to bled before it will start.

They can be a pain to bleed, had two of them recently, (well 290s). Lot to be said for the 4000 with the gravity feed... open the bleed scre on the pump first and get a good flow out there, nip it up and then open up the inj pipes a turn or two.... pump until you get the air out thsn tighten three and then start... if you are worried about starter/battery and you have away of towing it, tow it in gear..

When it was turning was there any smoke from the exhaust? Usually biggest tell tale of no diesel.. as said.. spend the time bleeding it, otherwise you will need a new starter from turning!

If the lift arms are slowing down it sounds like the back end oil and filter need to be changed if they havent been done lately.

I reckon i could be a culmination of problems to be honest. This tractor has had nothing done with it in years bar an oil top up every now and then.Since i took over things last year its on the "to do" list but stocking rate and fencing were the priority.
Hopefully get away from work shortly and have another look at it.Machinery not really my thing though unfortunately !
Have a feeling there might be an overhaul needed !
