Gilroy ? Sports broadcaster of the year? They can't be serious.

I'm not surprised to see Today FM taking less awards than usual. That station is really going downhill.........

Ray D'Arcy - Magazine Show of the Year....

You do realise it's based off an entry the nominee puts together off their best bits, right?

Ger has had some outstanding interviews in the last year. Lance, Cathal McCarron etc.

Nothing at all at all for 2fm?

Well then, maybe it should be known as the IMRO Flatteringly and Heavily Edited Aircheck Awards 2017.

I don't think Joe Molloy will be happy with that bronze!

Sarah McInerney winning is off the wall (and I don't mind her too much).

Kinda shows how out of touch the so called experts here are.

Today FM did really bad. Maybe it’ll make them see the disaster they have created.

Again, as pointed out above, these awards have little or nothing to do with the daily and weekly output of Today FM or any other station. It's no reflection on the changes to the station, good or bad. It's a reflection on the quality of the entry send in to these Awards.

If it was a reflection of daily and weekly output, would Sarah McInerney be deemed Current Affairs broadcaster of the year? Doubt it.
Would The Ray D'Arcy Show be the best magazine show in the country? Not a chance.

If you read the full list of awards, Today FM didn't do badly at all. Maybe not as many gold as in previous years but awards in almost all categories they'd want.

Same thought occurred to me. If you landed from Mars yesterday and read the winners list you'd think Today FM and Newstalk were flavour of the month what with all the awards they've got across various categories.

If you landed from Mars and read this forum you'd think all Irish radio was crap and nobody listened to it apart from a few on here.

The awards themselves are a good thing but the silver and bronze thing they introduced a few years ago is a joke.

It's a bit like one for eveybody in the audience.

I know Today FM did win here and there but it reflects very badly on them that not one presenter of day time programmes won an award and by award I mean gold-the silver and bronze are ridiculous.

Sarah McInerney - News broadcaster of the year

Ray D'Arcy - Magazine Show of the Year

RTÉ Lyric FM - Music Station of the Year.

Ger Gilroy - Sports broadcaster of the Year
If you were to pick the worst rather than best in each of those categories you would have picked the winner of each of those awards.

    No awards for best phoneshow?
I thought Niall Boylan and Adrian Kennedy were nominated?

In fairness, none of them deserve an award..... And sure even if they did win, they'd probably be too busy doing something else, and just send Muireann O’Connell along to collect it...... :D
