    I have a 08 1.4 TSI VW Passat

The timing chain has jumped. From what i can see, it's going to cause a fair whack.

Any ideas? Or am I better off selling car as is and getting a small amount of cash.

How damaged is the engine? Have you got a price on repairing the engine or replacing the engine? If the engine is damaged beyond repair then the car is pretty much worthless in that state.

Not 100% yet. He said it jumped and if it went anymore, it would risk damaging the valve? Which would ruin the engine. So I don't think it's got to the stage of needing a new engine yet.

Usually when these jump they will bend most of the valves. Generally costs in the region of €1600 to sort out.

If it has just jumped the timing then it will be just the standard chain replacement job.
