Arriving in Fort Lauderdale on November 18th after a cruise from Barcelona.
Looking at one-way flight to Dublin and I realise that I could have a week in Orlando for almost the same money !
Would mean booking a return flight but not using the flight out from Dublin.
Has anybody done this before ?
Obviously would not want my return flight cancelled just because I did not use the flight out !

    Opinions please !

Hi, I would highly recommend Orlando any chance you get.

However, if you book a return flight Dublin-Orlando-Dublin and don't show up for the outbound part from Dublin to Orlando, the remaining flight in the itinerary (Orlando to Dublin) will automatically get cancelled.

If however, you book Orlando-Dublin-Orlando, use the first bit to get home and then don't show up for the return from Dublin back to Orlando, well that's OK to do.

    Hope this helps.

This is what I am afraid would happen. Lady in Budget Travel told me it would not be a problem.
Package is great value if I book flights and hotels combined so your second option might not be as good ?

Which is why I never book anything with Irish travel agents - their knowledge is abysmal - unless they are a specialised travel agent

I'm seeing one-way Fort Lauderdale to Dublin with a 1 hour layover in Stockholm for E282.

They actually mailed yesterday and contradicted their earlier opinion.
Return flight WILL be cancelled if you do not take the outbound flight.

We are travelling with both carry-on and checked-in baggage so some of the cheaper airlines will hit us for extra luggage.
Who did you get that price from ?

Sorry I meant to say with Norwegian. If the travel agent was any good they'd be able to get you a decent one way fare . Try pushing them to do that as cruise companies have special fares on flights.

Norwegian have some great value flights to London Gatwick at the moment for winter. I think from about £150 one way plus bag fees. You could then get a cheap flight from London to Dublin with Ryanair?

    Thanks for the replies.
Date nearly fixed on November 24th.
Limited flights into Ireland around that date.
Flight into Gatwick would be €271 including one checked bag.
    Haven't checked the Ryanair leg.

Found other option of Wow Air on the same date, one stop in Reykjavik, very short stopover and landing in Dublin.
Fare of €302 if booked in Euro.
Made a booking in dollars and saving of around €25
Does anybody know if I can make the booking on the US site and pay in dollars ?
