Personally, i think the VR is totally worthless; what does it do!? They are just flogging it as part of a 'deal'.

Just to note this isn't Three's deal. This is Samsung pushing it, as I have seen them selling the S8 directly in the UK with the free Gear VR as well. I would say other networks will have it also.

The Gear VR with one of the higher end S model phones is a great bit of kit.

Head and shoulders above other mobile VR offerings, and definitely shouldn't be confused with mid-range phones using generic VR headsets.

As to what you can do, it's pretty endless but broadly speaking watch movies in the cinema app, watch VR movies (or 360 video) or play VR games, use things like Google Maps/Earth in VR, etc.

It's really fairly limitless in terms of entertainment.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. I would't slightly consider the Gear VR worthless. I even had the original for the Note 4 which I had to get from the US.

VR is only getting better, and mobile VR is at it's best with a Gear VR, and the experiences coming from it are amazing.

Wouldn't say that. While it's not as powerful as a computer, the slightly higher resolution and lack of god rays make it more enjoyable for watching media.

I don't think so. It's fundamentally the same, it lacks the graphics power obviously but for watching movies and some of the simple apps it's actually better than Oculus Rift because of the higher resolution.

Getting something for free doesn't equal savings except if you wanted that in the first place.. :pac: :pac:

and this is exactly why VR isn't selling... people dismissing it without even knowing what it's like
