I got a quote of 260 for parts and labour for brake disks/pads, I decided to check on Irishautoparts for the prices out of curiosity and came up with around 75 for them, is 185 euro normal for labour for this type of job....It's a 2004 Mondeo.

Is it just brake pads front and back, or discs as well. Is it a dealer quote, or local mechanic.

As it sounds its not outrageous, depending on exactly what items you are getting fitted.

That seems like a perfectly reasonable price for the job. Is it front disks and pads or the rear?

There can be quite a variation in the price of parts depending on the brand, so you could double that 75 quid easy enough.

Then you're looking at about 2 hours labour at ~ 40 euro per hour plus VAT, assuming that's an independent garage.

Yeah, it doesn't sound particularly unreasonable.

Grand just wanted to make sure it was a normal price, It's the rear brakes that's to be done.

It'll be cheaper if you do it yourself. It's easier than you probably think :)

If it has disks on the back it won't be that easy for a novice diy'er and will probably require the use of a wind back tool for the callipers.

If you are vehicle savvy, and have the tools, its simple.

If not it could be akin to brain surgery:D

Not one bit vehicle savy at all :D
